The McLean management and information technology consulting company has already won plaudits for its diversity and inclusion efforts.

Booz Allen Hamilton Inc. (NYSE: BAH) on Tuesday tapped a new leader for its diversity, equity and inclusion efforts, selecting Jon Muñoz to serve as vice president and chief DEI officer.

Muñoz, a 2019 Washington Business Journal Business of Pride honoree, comes to the McLean-based management and information technology consulting company after nine years with Hilton Worldwide Holdings Inc. (NYSE: HLT), serving first as the senior director for the McLean hotel giant’s global diversity and inclusion efforts before ascending to the role of vice president in 2018.

Prior to that, Muñoz spent eight years with telecommunications company Sprint prior to its 2020 merger with T-Mobile U.S. Inc. (NYSE: TMUS), including two years as senior manager of its national office of inclusion and diversity.

In his new role, Muñoz will work across the company on initiatives to drive strong enterprise-wide DEI practices, something Booz Allen has made a strategic focus, particularly around inclusion for its LGBTQ employees, dating back some 25 years.

The company won Washington Business Journal’s 2019 Business of Pride Corporate Award based on its history of DEI efforts, including its internal forum for its community of LGBTQ employees, GLOBE.

Muñoz, who helped lead Hilton’s DEI initiatives to a No. 1 diversity workplace rating from the Great Place to Work Institute, said in a statement he looked forward to helping Booz Allen’s workforce through its companywide strategies and practices around diversity and inclusion.

“Booz Allen’s long-standing commitment to these practices lays a strong foundation for the work ahead,” he said in a statement.

The University of Texas alum serves on the Chairman’s Advisory Council for the Friends of the National Museum of the American Latino, as well as board chair for the International LGBTQ+ Travel Association and is co-founder of the National Hispanic Corporate Council Corporate Executive Development Program.
